How to reduce your hotel’s dependency on OTAs

As I did last week, I will continue to speak about the same topic related to Online travel agency. I’m very interested about this topic and this week I would like to share it again with.
According to this article, hoteliers should have in mind different practices that will help them in reducing their OTAs’ dependency. Here are some of them:
-       Increase marketing budget to drive direct booking
-       Adapt to the market and be ready to realize strategies’ modification
-       Use properly the forecast in order to be flexible when using third parties expertise.
-       OTAs must be supplemental revenue driver
-       Manipulate with precaution availability and prices in order to diminish the loss of potential customers toward OTAs.

Nowadays hoteliers have the possibility to better control their hotel’s dependency on OTAs thanks to social medias. By doing so, they will diminish their commissions and will be in a strong position to negotiate. Thus, if hotels do not think or not proceed to modifications they will be lost in this huge market. They can’t do the same thing that they were doing years ago.

I have the strong feeling that OTAs will loose the hotels’ dependencies, It is just question of time.
